Earthjustice was founded as the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund in 1971.
Since then, it has become the leading nonprofit environmental law firm
in the country.
In 1997, they changed their name to Earthjustice, to better reflect their role
as a legal advocate for not just the Sierra Club, but hundreds of
others clients as well.
Earthjustice is a non-profit public interest law firm dedicated to
protecting the magnificent places, natural resources, and wildlife of
this earth, and to defending the right of all people to a healthy
environment.
Earthjustice works through the courts on behalf of citizen groups,
scientists, and other parties to ensure government agencies and private
interests follow the law. On Capitol Hill, we work to protect and
strengthen federal environmental laws and preserve special places, like
the Arctic.
